“I actually thought that this story is just about cooking Sinigang, but it's actually more than that.”--
one of the excerpts from the reflection essay.
What I've seen and learned
The story of sinigang opens with a character named Liza, she's preparing the ingredients of sinigang with her Tita Loleng. I actually thought that this story is just about cooking sinigang, but it's actually more than that. She attends the funeral of her half-brother who just died.
This story is not just about sinigang and the funeral of her half-brother, it's also about Liza's emotional connection with her father. When I read the story, I actually felt a connection with her story, my father also cheated with another woman multiple times, and because of that, our relationship with our father changed a little.
Like Liza, I felt angry at my dad, because he cheated not just on our mother, but also on us. Our parents are arguing because he always breaks his promises that he will never gonna cheat again back then.
But for the past years, we learned to forgive him, and all of the things that happened in our family became a lesson to us. The thing that I learned from this story is that you can forgive someone, but you can't forget what happened, and if you can't forget it, make it as a life lesson for us to learn and improve ourselves.
The impact of this story to me as a 21st Century learner is that never do the mistakes that your parents did to you, to your future family. Learn to love and value our relationship withloved our love ones, and learn to cook a sinigang. Dishes can also have an emotional connection with us.
END.
a/n: Please do not copy my reflection essay about sinigang, and some changes are made from the original essay that I made on our paper.
